Sony’s second State of Play took place today. There were some expected news and a few surprises. Just as PlayStation promised, the stream was quick and delivered a little amount of news.
Also, this State of Play didn’t mention any information about PS5, just as they had promised. Now, this is everything that happened during today’s State of Play.
After being in the back of the drawer from some time, Final Fantasy VII made a triumphant appearance on today’s State of Play. The new trailer promised that the game will be back in June. This hints to a possible release date.
The new expansion announced since last December, called Iceborne, will release this autumn. A trailer for the expansion was premiered on State of Play. The exact release for PS4 is September 6, 2019. The new location added in Iceborne will be named Hoarfrost Reach. Also, the trailer showed some of the monsters we will soon be facing!
Additional information of the expansion can be found in the PlayStation Blog.
This one was already mentioned by Sony. In addition to the overhauled graphics, there are more surprises for this title. PlayStation also revamped the camera mechanic and added a new narrator for MediEvil. The game also got an official release date: October 25, 2019.
This one was totally unexpected. The game is under development by IllFonic with close collaboration between Sony Interactive Entertainment and 20th Century Fox. This is excellent news, as we know the last game in which 20th Century Fox was involved, was an accurate representation of the franchise it was inspired on, Alien Isolation.
Predator: Hunting Ground is going to be an asymmetrical online shooter. This means that part of the players control a fireteam and one player controls the Predator. In addition to the teaser presented on State of Play, there’s a post from Charles Brungardt, the CEO of IllFonic on the PlayStation Blog explaining how the idea of the game came to be.
If Predator was a surprise, this one is an even bigger one. Away: The Survival Series is, well, a survival game in which you play as an animal. It looks more like an interactive food chain of sorts. The creative director of Breaking Walls, the studio behind the game.
Laurent Bernier stated: “Three years ago, our team set out to make the game we had always wanted to play. One where you could not only play as an animal but actually step inside a wildlife documentary and experience nature from an entirely new perspective. Today, we are excited to announce that Away: The Survival Series will be coming out on PlayStation 4, and we can’t wait to tell you more about the game!”
This game is a charming dungeon crawler, couch co-op game. It features lovable characters from beloved indie franchises such as Bastion and Shovel Knight. The game is coming to PS4 this summer.
