Devolver Digital is one of those studios you don’t really know what to expect of. They always brew these otherworldly ideas that couldn’t fit anywhere else but with them. The best of that formula is that, to date, we still haven’t found it not working. Devolver Digital is a synonym of inventiveness and quality. During this E3, this was not an exception. We played two amazing titles, these are our impressions.
Have you ever wished you were in one of those contest shows that are so famous in America, like Wipeout, and at the same time play a Battle Royale, action game? Well, Fall Guys is that game for you. I had the great pleasure to play its E3 Demo and it was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. The game is, in it’s simplest terms a cute game show battle royale. You go through a series of games and every game disqualifies a portion of the players. Its simple yet rewarding and fun gameplay makes it addictive and fun to play, especially with friends. Mediatonic and Devolver Digital went all out to deliver one of the most entertaining games of this E3.
Are you into science fiction horror? This is for you. Carrion has an amazing art direction and utilizes a pixel art design to bring to life a mutant blob that’s hungry for human flesh and revenge. You take the role of this mutant, which is a fresh approach on all the survival horror games out there. As you progress you piece the story of what went wrong in this lab. The gameplay is intuitive and addictive. As you progress you get bigger as you devour the madmen scientists who created you in the first place. There are also many abilities you will gain as you explore the demented lab, keeping gameplay entertaining and fresh. Also, kudos to Phobia Game Studios and Devolver Digital for the audio mixing on this game. It is a perfect match for the already amazing art direction.
